Meet the maker:

UpGroup

Established in 1969 in Massa Carrara in Tuscany, home of the most famous marble quarries, UpGroup revolutionised the way marble is applied in design and is now one of the most relevant marble manufacturers in the world. Part of its success is due to numberless collaborations with famous designers, like Michele De Lucchi, Achille Castiglioni, Philippe Starck, Ugo La Pietra, Mario Bellini, and many others. This combination of the artisans' craftsmanship and the designers' creativity gave life to extraordinary objects that have become Italian style classics, unique objects produced by combining traditional handcrafted production with the latest technology, many of which are on display in important international museums. UpGroup is also crafting architectural works for hotels, banks, airports, and villas, as well as conservative restoration on historical buildings, like the Uffizi Museum, the Bank of Italy’s Museo del Conio, Florence’s Duomo, and Beethoven’s House-Museum in Bonn.
